Violent Incidents Shake the Community

Rourkela: The city of Rourkela in Odisha is reeling from two separate murders that occurred on the same night, raising serious concerns about public safety, according to local law enforcement.

The first incident took place at VSS Market, where a 21-year-old man was brutally stabbed by a group of four or five assailants in broad daylight. The victim, identified as Mukesh Kar, was out with a friend when the attack occurred.

Tragically, Mukesh succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while his companion was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Authorities believe the attack may have stemmed from a longstanding feud, and CCTV footage from the market is currently under review.

In connection with the incident, police have detained five individuals for questioning based on the video evidence.

Mukesh's father, Sudhir Kar, expressed his outrage, demanding that the perpetrators face the death penalty.

Later that night, another grim discovery was made when the body of an unidentified ragpicker was found on Gandhi Road, his throat slit. This individual was known to sleep outdoors.

SP Nitesh Wadhwani declined to provide further comments on the ongoing investigations.
